Responsibilities will include:
  • Tender support - both pre-tenders, and throughout tender exercises. At the request of a Procurement Manager (or senior divisional manager), produce and analyse the relevant spend category areas using all available spend information sources. Completion of credit checks and market research for the area of expenditure
  • Analyse organisational spend information and categorise costs in accordance with group structures, highlighting significant changes in expenditure with suppliers, and opportunities for spend consolidation or reduction
  • Use the supplier analysis document to register known details of contract status, and also retain records of which suppliers have received/complied with centrally issued updates on topics such as the JD Code of Conduct, or any GDPR/other updates where the Legal or Information Security team has requested support
  • Undertaking periodic credit checks on the top 100 suppliers to JD Sports Fashion plc, and notifying relevant business managers of any significant changes
  • Work with the Group Finance team to support ad-hoc requests for spend information on acquisitions or international entities (potentially using different payment ledgers)
  • Maintain record of legal entities, store information and key contacts for all territories
  • Provide support for the development of the JD Group e-auction system, including establishing divisional templates for online sourcing events, and supporting divisional colleague training
  • Work with the Head of Procurement to produce monthly Gift Card sales data and industry updates, providing insight to help improve store sales across all fascias and territories


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Some experience within a fast-paced commercial environment (preferably via finance or project management type roles)
  • Experience of working in-store/ in an operational retail environment is beneficial, but not essential
  • Administrative experience and background, preferably with an understanding or interest in data and finance
  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills are essential, combined with an understanding of the importance of attention to detail

  • Confidence to own problems/issues, propose solutions and ensure that deadlines or business goals are achieved within a constantly changing environment
  • The ability to successfully balance your own objectives with the ever-changing needs of retail and divisional colleagues
  • Experience of engaging and building relationships with business stakeholders from multiple divisions (such as Finance, Energy, Property, Retail, Marketing, Multi-Channel etc.


Desired qualifications

5 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including English and maths.
