Mental health services
  • We provide a wide range of treatment and support to young people, adults and older people experiencing mental illness both as inpatients and within the community. This includes treatment in secure and specialised settings.

Community health services
  • Our diverse range of community health services provide support and treatment to both adults and children. We deliver this care in community hospitals, health centres, GP surgeries and in people's homes.

Learning disabilities services
  • We provide crisis support and inpatient services and our community learning disability teams work in partnership with local councils to provide assessment and support for adults with learning disabilities.

Social care
  • We provide personalised social care support to people with a range of needs, including people with learning disabilities or mental illness, supporting people to live independently.

An opportunity has arisen in EPUT for an Apprentice Assistant Practitioner to join the Early Supported Discharge Team to learn all aspects of caring and delivering rehabilitation to stroke and neurological patients.

The Higher National Diploma in Healthcare Practice (Assistant Practitioner) Programme is a full-time (37.5 hours) 2 year Apprenticeship which we deliver in EPUT . The programme is delivered in-house by Yvonne Hawkins and the education team.

The requirements for the programme are as follows;
  • Health and Social care level 3 or equivalent Health based science subject at L3.
  • Functional Skills level 2 English and Maths or GCSE pass grade 4 or above (C) in both
  • Completed Care Certificate

The programme has the requirement for 480 hours Guided learning / academic study hours per year and includes 1 study day per week which is delivered in a blended learning approach as a mixture of Teams sessions and face to face which will usually be in our training rooms in Epping, 3 weeks alternative placement per year plus additional study days which support the programme. There are academic assignments set throughout the year and there has to be a commitment to undertake study within your own time to complete assignments /reading/ research and self-directed learning .

We also have AL days / weeks set within the programme and advise students that unless there are exceptional circumstances regarding leave that additional AL days should not unless previously agreed by the programme team and your manager be taken off from the weekly course study days .

Successful applicants will start at Band 3 Grading and upon qualification there will be opportunities for you to apply for a Band 4 position.
