Job purpose:
  • To assist in delivering specific projects for South Worcestershire ICT& transformation of council services
  • To assist in ensuring Microsoft Modern Workspace and O365 are fully exploited to deliver maximum value
  • To have a good understanding of ICT and cyber security practices
  • To support the implementation of Microsoft Modern Workspace and Office 365
  • To assist in the transformation of council services

Key accountabilities: (All accountabilities will be carried out in line with the Council's policies, procedures and relevant regulations and legislation)
  • To provide support to ensure successful use of the Microsoft 365 suite of software
  • To support staff in their use of the M365 suite of software
  • To assist in the rollout and enhancement of the M365 suite of software
  • To work with services across the partner councils to understand their business challenges and develop proposals of how the use of Microsoft modern workplace could leave to efficiencies and the transformation of council services
  • To assist with training in the use of the M365 suite of software
  • To assist the Digital Transformation team and wider ICT team in their use of M365
  • To support the coordination of ICT team projects
  • To work with the ICT Security Engineer to ensure that implementation of M365 products meet ICT Security and data governance requirements
  • To stay up to date with the M365 suite of software to ensure that any changes will not negatively impact the councils and ensure that new features are exploited where relevant
  • To support the Digital Transformation team with self-service and other development work

Other duties as may be required from time to time in line with the grading of the post and the requirements of the individual Personal Training Plan:

Duties will inevitably develop and change as the work of the Council changes to meet the needs of our customers. Employees should therefore expect periodic variations to job descriptions, and the Council retain this right. Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Essential:
  • Work experience placement in a Business or IT environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft Office packages)

Desirable:
  • Experience working in an office using Microsoft Office 365 packages
  • Experience of working in a busy IT team


Personal qualities

Essential
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Polite and respectful of others
  • Confidence and ability to speak to customers face to face and via telephone and email
  • Commitment to an apprenticeship programme


Desired qualifications

Essential:
  • GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in maths and English
  • Level 2/3 qualification in IT or Business (or equivalent)

Desirable:
  • Level 3 IS Business Analyst apprenticeship standard (or equivalent)


Future prospects

Potential progression into a full-time position upon completion.

Things to consider

Special Conditions:
  • Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends
  • Fixed term contract for up to 18 months from start (dependent on course requirements)
