Job Details

You will have responsibility for:
  • Using Xero accounting system to record accounting transactions for the business
  • Preparing sales invoices and supporting documents and liaising with customers to ensure prompt payment
  • Performing bank reconciliations, processing receipts and payments
  • Preparing creditor payment runs for directors' approval
  • Preparing VAT returns for approval by the directors
  • Preparing weekly/monthly timesheet reports to be processed by the payroll department
  • Preparing monthly accounts including standard reporting from the accounting system
  • Ad hoc support for the directors as required


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Professional office skills - good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience using IT (previous experience with Excel is essential)
  • Excellent organisational skills


Personal qualities

  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with enquiries in person and by telephone


Desired qualifications

  • Accountancy level 3 qualification essential
  • GCSE (or equivalent) grades A*-C or 9-4English and maths or be prepared and willing to complete the Functional Skills qualifications in your own time alongside the apprenticeship. Training for this provided by Adult Learning. We offer a flexible delivery style suit every learners' individual needs and requirements


Future prospects

Completion of the AAT programme and progression to Financial Controller.

Things to consider

This role is for any applicant who already holds a Level 3 qualification in Accountancy. Please do not apply if you don't have this qualification.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
