We have an immediate opening for a Applications Developer Apprentice to provide support to our existing customers and the rest of the team here at Qi.

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in computer programming and has the appetite to learn new skills to support their role as a team member here at Qi Ltd

What might you be involved with during yourtraining? The following includes various areas of our business where we seek to help our staff to understand and develop their potential areas of expertise.

The main languages you will learn will be:
  • Visual Basic, SQL, C/AL and AL

All Applicants will start their time with Qi:
  • Learning in specific areas (Microsoft ERP, Office 365 apps)
  • Providing telephone and remote access support to our customers on a variety of applications and issues
  • Balancing workday between multiple projects and responding promptly to customers and the rest of your team
  • Reporting issues and concerns immediately to your line manager

As your knowledge develops and your areas of expertise become clearer:
  • Code and test programming for Microsoft and Access
  • Migration projects for customers on legacy accounting and manufacturing software to a Microsoft ERP (planning, preparation and data conversion)
  • Troubleshooting system bugs and issues

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Strong interest in computer programming with the appetite to learn new skills to support their role as a team member here at Qi Ltd
  • Hard-working with a creative but analytical mindset
  • Self-motivated and with a keen interest to learn
  • Effective communications skills are essential as you will, following training, be in regular contact with our customers and other members of the team
  • Skills with the Windows operating system and associated hardware
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects at once and to troubleshoot problems

Personal qualities

  • The desire to become part of a committed, friendly, hardworking team is the only must have quality we are seeking in the successful candidate
  • Confidence, or will to build confidence in communicating with our customers to provide an excellent customer service experience
  • Commitment to continuing education in computer applications (training at employer's expense)

Desired qualifications

  • IT qualification [level 3] with an element of coding or an A level in Computing or maths
  • 5 GCSEs including English and maths at grade C/4 or equivalent
