We are currently looking to employ a full time Principal Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.

The successful candidate will join the Psychology Department comprised of a Principal Forensic Psychologist, Principal Clinical Psychologist, and a Head of Psychology, as well as assistant psychologists and psychology students.

The applicant will be an HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with experience in clinical forensic settings. Trainee Clinical or Forensic Psychologists who are due to be registered with the HCPC within the next six months will also be considered. Training in complex therapies such as Schema, Cognitive Analytical, DBT and MBT will be an advantage.

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is an 87 bedded hospital with six wards consisting of a medium secure male ward, two low secure (male and female) wards, two PICU male wards and one acute female ward. The successful candidate will mainly offer psychology provision to our medium secure male ward but will provide consultation across the rest of the service.

Our goal at Cygnet is to deliver effective and evidenced based interventions that improve mental health and reduce risk. We offer an integrated care pathway for service users who are able to successfully move on to independent community living. This is further supported by our broad range of therapies which include: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis, ACT-Informed Substance Misuse Therapy, Fire Setters Programme, Sex Offenders Treatment Programme, Cognitive Analytical Therapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy. We also offered low level interventions.

The successful candidate will work as a team psychologist within a multi-disciplinary team and play a role in training, supervision and service development according to skills, experience and areas of interest. As a ward psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans and deliver group and individual psychological interventions, and consult to the MDT.

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.

Care is provided within a medium secure perimeter. Inside the hospital, everyone has an individual en-suite bedroom and there is outdoor space available for all. There are also a range of additional facilities including a vocational cafe, large indoor gym hall, multi-gym, outdoors football pitch and garden area.

The aim at Stevenage is to help people learn how to manage their mental health and reinforce their daily living skills, helping to prepare for independent life.
