This role prepares the post holder to work towards the role of a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the trust in the specialty of Endocrinology. The post holder will work under guidance and mentorship throughout the defined training period. The post holder may be undertaking the level 7 ACP apprenticeship programme in conjunction with the University of the West of England, or they may be completing a Masters programme in Advanced Clinical Practice and map the knowledge and skills to the apprenticeship standard.

You will require significant experience in the specialty of endocrinology as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and will lead a team of 1.5 WTE band 6 CNS's and 1.0 WTE band 5 support nurse. You will undertake nurse led clinics such as thyroid, Adrenal Incidentaloma, stable pituitary/Addison's whilst developing other team members. Education is an important part of this role, therefore excellent communication skills to ensure patient groups receive appropriate advice is essential.

A Non Medical Prescriber would be an advantage but not essential initially. However, there will be an expectation to undertake this course.

Although this is an established service, there is immense opportunity to innovate and further develop this tertiary endocrine service .
