This is an exciting time for the Trust's People and Organisational Effectiveness Directorate. Having completed most of a recent restructure reflecting the needs of our staff, there are a number of career opportunities in the Leadership, Culture and Organisational Development teams.

One of these is the Head of Education, Training & Development role, a senior leadership role, reporting to the Associate Director of Leadership, Culture and Organisational Development. The successful applicant will lead the development of a comprehensive Learning, Education and Development strategy ensuring all activity is matched to current and emerging organisational needs and strategic ambitions, managing the Education, Training and Development, Apprenticeships, Libraries, and Resuscitation teams to deliver the strategy.

The post holder will interpret national guidance and policy in respect of Education, Training and Development and challenge existing systemic and local practices to enable progressive, thought and sector leading solutions which take into account best models of practice and the most effective use of resources for optimal return on investment. This role is a key driver to ensure the Trust meets and where achievable, exceeds the requirements of CQC standards that relate to education and training.

The post holder will bring expertise to develop, deliver and measure the effectiveness of core education, training and leadership development programmes for key workforce groups Trust-wide including medical, dental and nursing staff groups.

These will include but not be limited to frontline staff, supervisors, managers and leaders, teams and functions, working in close collaborative partnership with the Leadership, Culture and OD Business Partner team, the Health and Wellbeing and Equality and Diversity Business Partners.

Key Result Areas
  • To develop mechanisms to promote an empowered culture of learning, change agility, and compassionate leadership, building internal organisational development capacity and capability to deliver organisational change, improve patient experience and support career progression through education and leadership development opportunities.
  • To be accountable for the delivery of the Trust Apprenticeship programme and the management of the Education and Apprenticeship Manager to ensure mechanisms are in place to ensure the Trust offers full and meaningful apprenticeship programme throughout the organisation trust wide with full maximisation of the levy.
  • To establish and embed effective data gathering and information analysis systems to ensure organisational learning needs are identified and can be robustly incorporated into commissioning, budgeting and education planning and design processes. To include the delivery of a statutory and mandatory training strategy meeting legislative and local competency and compliance requirements.
  • To lead the ETD function, including the management of the ETD team and provide qualified, informed advice and expertise to the Associate Director of Leadership, Culture and OD and the wider senior leadership team across the People Directorate on issues relating to ETD.
  • To build, maintain and develop effective working partnerships with other education/learning providers (internal and external to the Trust) and local, regional and national healthcare communities to explore mutually beneficial collaboration on joint learning initiatives in order to maximise the use of resources, minimise costs and optimise returns.
  • The postholder will explore and implement new and innovative learning and development methods, utilising technological advances to effectively address workforce development issues.
  • To lead on management and leadership training and development across the Trust providing expert knowledge, commissioning and providing bespoke interventions working closely with OD Business Partners and internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimum engagement.
  • To work directly with Health Education England and the Integrated Care System in Humber Coast and Vale to influence the commissioning of education programmes and support education initiatives including clinical and apprenticeships career development pathways.
  • To lead the Library and Knowledge services team ensuring that they meet quality standards and provide a service to all learners across the Trust meeting and supporting the Learning and Development Agreement.
  • To lead the clinical simulation, resuscitation and safety training teams to ensure that this provision meets the requirements of external bodies and promotes a safety culture to our staff, keeping our patients safe.The successful applicant will join a team of committed, professional colleagues who pride themselves on building, delivering and measuring the impact of the people development initiatives we are implementing.
