We have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist with a passion for developing their clinical knowledge and skills to join our team to provide a high quality service to patients requiring care at our hospitals.

We are looking for someone with the drive to develop their clinical skills, initiative, to take a flexible and adaptable approach to work and with excellent communication skills.

You will be supported to develop your skills through working through clinical rotations, gaining experience of working within the Medicine and Surgical directorates including experience of working in specialist areas such as Cancer services, Paediatrics, Medicines information and Intensive Care.

You will be supported to develop skills to provide pharmacy support and advice to healthcare colleagues and also to our patients at ward level. You will provide ward based clinical cover to ensure that patient's pharmaceutical needs are met; you will also support clinical audit work, record interventions and report incidents to improve services. We pride ourselves on encouraging our clinical pharmacists to undertake training and take up development opportunities in line with personal development needs, training such as the Postgraduate clinical diploma and independent prescribing courses.

The post will be based at Scunthorpe general hospital, as one of our Clinical Pharmacists completing a rotational development programme there may be occasions where you will need to access specialist clinical areas at one of our other hospital sites at Grimsby or Goole. You will have regular line management and supervision support.

As a department we are actively using skill mix and role development to enhance job content and quality at all levels of the department. The department is supported by a robust technician management structure leaving pharmacists to concentrate on clinical and professional aspects of patient care.

We are a successful Pharmacy Department in a Trust which has given Medicines Optimisation a high priority. We have outsourced our outpatient dispensing, and implemented electronic prescribing to the majority of our inpatient wards. We have successfully opened a new £1.5 million aseptic unit, and electronic prescribing for chemotherapy. We have also been successful in establishing strong links with local Universities to support pharmacy undergraduates and medical undergraduates and place a strong emphasis on education, training and development of healthcare professionals.

Northern Lincolnshire combines rural charm with bustling picturesque market towns and villages. The area is well served by roads and rail, it is less than three hours to London, and Humberside Airport has daily flights to European airports. The famous Humber Bridge enables you to reach Hull and the ferry port for travelling to mainland Europe. Housing standards are high with prices below the national average.

The post includes participation in the late duty, weekend, bank holiday and on-call (EDC) rotas.
