Job Details

CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. We involve service users, carers, the public, staff and partner organisations in the way that we are run.

Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation. We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference. We're proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.

We are recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare. We aim to employ only the best people, and our experts are frequently called upon to contribute to national health strategy and policy, and many models of our care have been adapted for use in other countries.

We offer a generous relocation package (subject to eligibility assessment) and flexible working options, including bank assignments for most roles. See attached Staff Reward and Wellbeing Handbook detailing our benefits, discounts and wellbeing intiatives for staff.

Become part of our team. We care for you as much as you care for others.

Come and join us and be one of the friendly and supportive 300 Occupational Therapists (OTs) in CNWL. We work in many different teams in both physical and mental health, as well as a number of specialist areas. You could have a career for life with us and maintain your dual skills.

OT in CNWL is very fortunate in having a long-established professional structure and this includes an AHP director, Trust wide Professional Head of OT, borough and specialist Head OTs. This has the huge benefit of ensuring representation of our profession at all levels - both strategically and operationally.

Personal and professional development is a high priority for the profession and is underpinned by our OT R&D strategy, R& D specialist groups and OT clinical networks. This enables us to invest in the development of our staff by providing excellent internal training as well as commissioning specialised external training and providing quality supervision. This ensures all our OTs reach their full potential at every stage of their career. Our commitment to research, audit and EBP is made possible by our strong links with local universities.

We activity support the next generation of OTs through apprenticeships, student placements and the promotion of the profession as a career in schools. We are proud of the diversity in our workforce but have invested time in supporting and developing this further through our BAME OT group.

If you are an OT who strives for excellence and wants to develop to your full potential then we would welcome your application. We recognise that the step between student and professional needs support so we have invested fully in our Band 5s development through robust supervision, a preceptorship programme and internal training. Success at preceptorship enables them to then be an educator for OT students. Career development opportunities are available and many of our Band 5s chose to stay with us in senior posts.

Home First are excited to be able to advertise for a permanent, full time, Band 5 Occupational Therapist due to the successful development of our current Band 5 post holder.

This post will give great opportunity to gain varied experience in work across the Home 1st Therapy pathways. We provide therapy assessments and interventions for community admission avoidance and intermediate care needs, discharge support to the local acute hospital and inpatient rehabilitation to the Seacole Virtual Community Hospital.

Here at Home First, we pride ourselves in the ongoing development of staff, we have successful applicants on ACP and Apprenticeship courses for both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy and have regular students on placement with support from our Practice educators.

Working closely with our Professional Lead Therapists and Team Leads, the continuing development of the academic learning and vocational skills of the therapy team is imperative. Your participation in staff supervision, training and completion of competencies and observation of practice is key to the provision of the ongoing standard of care we expect at CNWL.

Being part of the 2020 Diggory Outstanding Team of the Year, you will receive a comprehensive induction, followed by a tailored personal development plan, which includes self-directed learning and collaborative working within Home1st and its partners.
