Vehicle Craftsperson

Blaydon, Gateshead

Salary: £17,051 - £17,937

Fixed term (3 months) with likelihood of an extension

This exciting opportunity would appeal to someone who wants to start their career in a vehicle workshop environment. The successful applicant will be working in a workshop maintaining a fleet of light trailers and a growing number of external client vehicles. There will be lots of opportunities to gain experience and learn new skills.

The workshop is open Monday to Friday 0800 to 1600 and the postholder will join a team of six staff.

Duties include:
  • Overhauling single, tandem, tri axle small trailers.
  • Restoration and breakdown repair.
  • Use of hand tools
  • Removing tyres.
  • General housekeeping of facility.
  • Assisting technicians when required.
  • Cleaning vehicles ensuring all is kept in good order.
  • Other workshop duties.

The successful candidate must:
  • Be a person who is enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn and adapt within a busy workshop
  • have knowledge of the basic mechanics of motor vehicles
  • Confident communicator
  • Keen to learn new skills and develop
  • Good at taking direction
  • Positive attitude to safety and quality
  • Works well on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Punctual and reliable
