The Trust is improving its services for Children, Young People and Families through an ambitious programme to integrate physical and mental health services, universal and specialist provision; redesigning and delivering new service, technologies, and innovations for CYPF, so that mental health and physical health services are better joined up, easy to access and tailored around the needs of families.

JOB SUMMARY: CAMHS COMMUNITY TEAM ROLE OVERVIEW

The Berkshire Specialist CAMH Service is made up of a number of different specialist teams:

· Common Point of Entry (CPE) & Urgent Care

· Specialist Community Teams (locality based)

· Anxiety and Depression Specialist Pathway

· ADHD Specialist Pathway

· ASD Diagnostic Pathway

The Specialist Community Teams offer assessment and intervention within a multi-disciplinary context to children and young people presenting with complex, comorbid, or high-risk mental health disorders.

Specialist Community Team roles may include the following:

Assessment

Clinicians will be expected to undertake assessment of young people referred through from CPE following triage and to formulate appropriate care plans in partnership with young people and families. They will also take young people onto their caseload and undertake ongoing assessments of:

· mental state

· risk

· families and wider systems

· treatment response

Care Programme Approach

Every young person care coordinated within the Specialist Community Teams will be expected to

have a clear care plan or be held under the CPA. The clinician will be expected to:

· formulate treatment plans

· identify appropriate treatment and multi-agency requirements

· undertake regular reviews

· Review formulations and change treatments as necessary to achieve the aim described under CPA.

Treatment

Clinicians will be expected to undertake treatments primarily in their own area of speciality; however, all young people are expected to have a systemic component to their management which would not necessarily be managed by a Systemic Family Therapist.

Types of inventions would be:

· Individual work

· Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

· Inter-personal therapy / other evidence-based individual therapies

· Psychodynamic psychotherapy / non-verbal therapies

· Family therapy / systemic therapy

· Medication

This list is not exhaustive

NB Clinicians will be expected to recognise when a young person would be more appropriately managed within a Specialist Care Pathway and to work closely with colleagues in the pathways to coordinate care for that young person.

All Teams and Pathways

Multi-agency working

Clinicians will be expected to contribute to, attend and, where appropriate, chair, multi-agency meetings including safeguarding and child protection meetings, to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Clinicians will be expected to identify and liaise with the most appropriate agency to undertake identified pieces of work under the CPA.

Clinicians will be expected to have a wide knowledge of other agencies within their Locality and to develop relationships that facilitate and enhance patient care.

Clinicians will be expected to take on a Champion role for a specific service initiative (e.g. participation, transition) or for a specific client group (e.g. learning disability, looked after children)

Supervision

Clinicians will be required to both provide and undertake clinical supervision and management supervision as defined in the Trust policy (Clinical and Management Supervision for all BHFT Staff

(Clinical and Non-Clinical Staff), BHFT CCR097)

Working Hours

Monday - Friday 08:00 - 20:00 Core Hours are 09:00 - 17:00
