South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the country, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and within easy reach of Newcastle and Leeds. It comprises two acute hospitals, James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton and a number of community hospitals and community services.

The post holder will work both independently and as part of a team to deliver knowledge services at a range of sites across the Trust. The team will provide a supportive environment and the post holder will have access to an excellent CPD programme and strong library network across the North of England and more widely. This role would be ideal for a newly-qualified knowledge or library professional who is keen to develop their skills and is an enthusiastic team member. We will equally welcome applications from more experienced librarians or knowledge specialists looking to move into a proactive outreach role.

Principle Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional assistance in the provision of library and information services to staff and placement students within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Undertake mediated/evidence literature searches and enquiry work
  • Plan, publicise and deliver training programmes for groups and individuals to improve evidence-based decision making and to support continuing professional development and learning needs
  • To work with staff and placement students to ensure that distance from physical library resources is not a barrier to awareness and use of evidence, including the provision of an outreach service
  • To contribute to Service Development and Performance Monitoring
  • To organise, support and promote local, regional and national events and initiatives
  • To contribute to Knowledge Management through gathering, producing and organising information
