We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Macmillan Cancer Care Coordinator to work with patients in South Tees. This role has been developed to offer focused, caring, compassionate and effective support for patients in acute cancer treatment pathways.

The Cancer Care Coordinator will work with site specific multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) helping patients navigate their way through pathways, supporting delivery of excellent care for patients with cancer. The role involves daily contact with patients, families and carers therefore, good listening and communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and a flexible "can do" approach are essential.

Successful candidates will be expected to support and signpost patients face to face in a clinical setting and over the telephone and liaise with other professionals clinical and non-clinical on a regular basis. You will also be required to facilitate a multidisciplinary team meeting where patient pathways and treatment plans will be discussed.

Candidates should have the drive and ambition to make the role succeed, be educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent and have good communication and organisational skills (written and verbal) and experience of direct patient care. Previous administration experience and good keyboard skills would also be an advantage.

The ability to use your own initiative, prioritise your workload and work calmly and sensitively under pressure are also essential prerequisites of this role.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
