37.5 Hours per week (1 x 6 months & 1 x 9 months)

We are offering an excellent opportunity for dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapists to join our Band 5 rotations across South Tees NHS Trust on two fixed term posts to cover for maternity leave. The post holders will be employed as a Rotational Physiotherapists and will have the opportunity to advance their knowledge and experience in some of the following rotations:

Cardiothoracics Neurosciences

Critical Care Stroke Rehabilitation

Acute Medicine and Surgery Community Therapy

Orthopaedics Care of the Older Person

Spinal Injuries Musculoskeletal Gym

Out-patient Treatment Unit Primary Care Hospitals

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the country, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and within easy reach of Newcastle and Leeds. It comprises two acute hospitals, James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital, Northallerton and a number of community hospitals.

James Cook University Hospital is a major trauma centre and provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracic, vascular surgery and cancer services.

The post holder will initially be based in the community localities where the vacancies currently are held. Successful candidates would then rotate through either the James Cook University Hospital, Friarage Hospital or the community hospitals and services within South Tees, all of which have well-established, large, progressive and dynamic Physiotherapy Services that continue to develop and grow with the Trust.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:

  • Explore leadership within the NHS
  • Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
  • Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

The therapy team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from Senior Physiotherapists and Therapy Service Leads.

This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills. We have a comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops and clinical supervision. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research.

This post is suitable for qualified physiotherapists who are motivated and keen to develop their skills as a graduate and gain experience across a wide area of clinical practice.
