Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

Band 7

37.5 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to join an established Lung Cancer CNS team to co-ordinate and implement the service in line with the Cancer Services Peer Review requirements.

The post holder will give advice, instigate investigations and implement patient care as appropriate to manage patients presenting with symptoms suspicious of lung cancer and on a diagnostic pathway as well as supporting patients diagnosed with lung cancer and receiving care at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The post holder will be involved in the implementation of local and network wide management and treatment protocols and pathways, including nurse led clinics and lead on implementing the Living With and Beyond Cancer agenda for the service. The post holder will provide expert training and education to staff in within the Trust. The post holder will provide essential cross department liaison and communication to improve the patients' journey and experience. You will achieve results through a combination of direction and influence, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

To succeed in this post you will need band 6/7 experience in caring for patients diagnosed with cancer, haemato-oncology or palliative care. There is opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake advanced practice development through an apprenticeship route in a development role. The post has been made possible as a result of a partnership between Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.
