East Midlands Ambulance NHS Trust (EMAS) is pleased to advertise the opportunity for a Deputy Head of Education within the Directorate of Human Resources & Organisational Learning. The Directorate is a busy place to work and delivers a broad range of clinical education, organisational learning and organisational development. EMAS has corporate education centres in Lincoln, Nottingham (Clifton), Leicester and Northampton, delivering regulated clinical courses and Trust based courses and organisational development.

The Deputy Head of Education is a senior and pivotal role within the Directorate and will be accountable for all internal education delivered through the Trust education centres. This will require a person who can effectively lead, develop, empower and support a team of Senior Clinical Educators, Clinical Educators and Associates. EMAS strive to be outstanding in both patient care and through educational standards and experience. You will need to have a diverse and sound educational experience at a senior level. Within the Trust we are continually developing our offer and increasingly using technology to deliver blended learning opportunities. You must be confident to direct educational development and approaches and have a sound understanding of clinical education through your own clinical experience.

We currently deliver education leading to a range of regulated and non-regulated qualifications including Levels 3-5 First Response in Emergency & Urgent Care (Technician), Emergency/Urgent Care Assistant and PTS Care Assistant. We also have an established driving academy who deliver all driving courses and continual professional development related to competencies. The education team are required to support new staff through clinical inductions, the Newly Qualified Technician/Paramedic programmes and those engaged with Paramedic Apprenticeships at one of our Partner Universities.

As a Deputy Head of Education, you will be required to deputise for the Head of education at national and organisational level meetings. You will act as an education representative at Trust based governance groups and will lead internal audit and inspections from external bodies. You will be a compassionate and experienced leader who is able to empower a team of educators whilst promoting accountability, professional standards and upholding positive student experiences and attainment. You must be student/leaner centric and remain focused on the student experience and attainment in your role.

The Deputy Head of Education role requires the ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions within a level of authority. The education, organisational learning/development function works extremely closely with our Operations Directorate and other enabling services to provide a responsive and contemporary function at the Trust. The Deputy Head of Education will be the key contact for senior staff from other Directorates and will provide expert opinion and support to develop a culture of continual learning and practice development across the organisations.
