About the apprenticeship


Operate Reception duties, such as answering the phone in a polite and
professional manner and be able to ascertain if the incoming calls are
genuine or sales calls before passing them through to the required
person. Welcoming visitors to the office
• Respond to and send emails addresses on behalf of the company
• Manage Customers expectations
• Be able to multi-task and switch between tasks to suit the needs of the
business and to balance workload
• Be able to build rapport/relationships quickly with suppliers and
• Accurately file documents

Additional information

• 8.30 - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday. Closed Friday
• 28 days holiday including statutory bank holidays.
• The holiday year for the company is January 1st to December 31st
• At the commencement of the year following two complete years of service an extra day's holiday is accrued biennially up to a maximum of
five (5) days
• Overtime will be expected on occasions as demanded by work deadlines
• Due to nature of role, holidays cannot be taken during quarterly stock-take



• Verbally confident
• Great Customer Service skills
• Have experience of working within an office environment
• Must have a good eye for detail
• Able to follow instructions easily and efficiently
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Have a great personality with a good sense of humour
• Driver preferred, due to location
• Want a long-term career to eventually progress into Office Management

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
