Duties will include:
  • Carry out all problem solving, changes, configuration, availability, capacity and continuity processes in-line with the Framework for ICT in Schools (FITS) recommendations and guidelines under the direction of the SBM and IT Co-ordinator
  • Actively pursue training and accreditation on agreed plans for the school network and system developments and upgrades including software
  • Take responsibility for own professional development, continually keep updated about new initiatives in educational ICT, and contribute to the school as a learning organisation
  • To contribute to the Health and Safety of pupils and other staff in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and DSE legislation
  • Produce orders for consumables after agreement with the SBM and IT Co-ordinator.
  • Assist with the implementation of projects and school ICT initiatives
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities, which do not change the character and purpose of the post as, may be determined after negotiations between management, the post holder

Please note that as this this role will be school based, a successful DBS Application is required.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Must have GCSE pass grades or equivalent in English and maths
  • Must have IT-specific qualification at either A-level or Level 3 Apprenticeship or other relevant qualifications
  • Good communication skills
  • Relevant experience in an IT and/or networking-related role
  • Experience in a technical support environment
  • Full and valid UK driving licence (due to the nature of the role)
  • Roadworthy car with valid insurance allowing you to travel on business work


Personal qualities

Technical knowledge of:
  • WAN and LAN networking technologies
  • Fault finding and technical troubleshooting
  • Networking infrastructure- switching, routing, and firewall
