Community Nursing Assistant Ambulatory Wound Clinic- Band 4

Are you a Band 4 Community Nursing Assistant with passion for community nursing who wants to work within our well led, supportive, motivated and innovative Hillingdon District Nursing teams to deliver high quality, patient centered nursing care to people in our Ambulatory Wound Clinics?

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic Community Nursing Assistant, or Nursing Associate who has a passion for wound care and a willingness to develop your skills and knowledge in order to provide high quality patient care. Community experience is not essential but you will need to demonstrate that you have an understanding and awareness of autonomous working in the community setting.

It is an exciting time to join our Hillingdon District Nursing Service Ambulatory Wound Clinic as the scope is evolving rapidly and you will be part of the service development. At present the Ambulatory Wound Clinic operates 5 days a week, however progression of our clinics may lead to a 7 day service in the future. Although you will have a primary base in one of the 3 Ambulator wound care clinics you will be expected to work across the other 3 sites as required. Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) offer a range of development opportunities that include, apprenticeships and nursing degrees as well as variety of study days, shadowing opportunities and webinars. Once established and competent in your new role, you will be supported to agree a development plan which could include, for example, the Trainee Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship. The Assistant Practitioner apprenticeships a work based programme ,designed to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge to function as a Nursing Associate.

In return for your commitment to the Hillingdon District Nursing service, you will receive all of the support and development you need to consolidate your knowledge and skills which will prepare you for professional progression within the district nursing profession.

Opportunities

  • Diabetes management.
  • Leg Ulcer management inclusive of gaining competencies in vascular assessments and Compression bandage systems.
  • Bladder and Bowel management to gain knowledge and skills within the area of bladder and bowel management in a community setting and developing or gaining competencies within generalised continence management, bowel care and also urethral and suprapubic catheter management.
  • Our End of life and palliative care training opportunities will allow you to develop confidence, clinical knowledge and skills within this specialised area of nursing care. The district nursing teams work meticulously alongside our specialist palliative care teams.
  • Opportunities for further clinical development include phlebotomy and ear syringing competencies to name but a few.
  • CNWL offers you support to progress professionally within both the district nursing profession and community service wide.
