You will be working on projects within one of the following departments.
  • Brighter Futures:Our strategic priority to make Newham the best place for children and young people to thrive
  • Change & Insight:Supporting a range of projects to improve outcomes for residents

Ultimately theroles take responsibility for directly supporting projects, working closely with our Project Managers, Programme Managers and Assistant Directors of Improvement and Change; as well as drawing on resources from a wide-range of multi-disciplinary teams. Our projects are centred on delivering better outcomes to Newham's residents and working to ensure the financial sustainability of the council through increasing income and delivering savings.

Key tasks and accountabilities:
  • To make the best use of appropriate ICT systems including the Council's internet and intranet, email and other systems in order to provide an efficient and effective service
  • To ensure work is completed in accordance with agreed timescales, targets and service standards
  • Prepare routine and standard correspondence on a range of issues, making amendments as appropriate to the individual circumstances
  • To enter and maintain appropriate records onto the relevant systems, assisting with the production of statistics and management information as required
  • To assist service users, staff and other agencies with general enquiries, both by telephone and in person
  • To maintain excellent customer service in all areas of work
  • To maintain high levels of sensitivity in relation to personal, confidential and sensitive issues
  • To provide cover for other appropriate staff at the place of work
  • To assist in preparation and despatch of agendas, minutes and other documents as necessary
  • To administer a range of procedures relating to the Delivery functional team

Examples of such work include:
  • Administrative and support tasks relating to transformation projects across the Council including project assurance; gateway reviews; quality assurance; governance; training; administration of the ICT PPM system; corporate PPM methodologies; databases; resource management and repositiories for documentation and PPM literature
  • Dealing with general enquiries
  • Processing bookings
  • Preparing amendments/variations to documents
  • Maintaining secure and accurate records
  • Process documentation to meet deadlines
  • Process records; monitor input on the corporate systems to ensure information is kept up to date
  • Collation, reporting and basic analysis of management information
  • To take minutes at project review meetings as appropriate
