We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public. The services are spread over a wide geographical area of around 3,600 square miles, which includes coastal, rural and industrial areas.

If so, this might be the opportunity for you. We are looking to appoint to multiple apprentice positions in business administration.

We have the following posts available:

- 2 Positions within our Education and Training Department, Lanchester Road Hospital, Durham

- 1 Position within our Learning Disabilities Team based at Flatts Lane, Middlesbrough

- 1 Position within our Organisational Development Team based at Flatts Lane Middlesbrough

- 1 Position within our Chief Executive's Office, based at West Park Hospital, Darlington

Tees, Esk and Wear Valley's NHS Trust (TEWV) provides local mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorders services in County Durham, the Tees Valley, York and North Yorkshire. We want to recruit, develop and retain a skilled and motivated workforce. We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Business Administration Apprenticeship within the duration of the programme.

This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3 and must be completed within 18 months (this includes the end point assessment).

The post is fixed term for the duration of the apprenticeship (18 months), with an offer of a permanent contract upon completion.

The post is full time - 37.5 hours per week and includes study time with your education provider (usually a local college).

The apprenticeship post is paid at band 2 - £18,546 per year.

The successful candidate will be an important part of a busy administration team so you must enjoy working with people and have great communication skills. You will need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate good team working . We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and hard working.

The post combines reception, clerical and computer work.

Below is a brief outline of a range of tasks you could be expected to carry out:
  • Diary management
  • Telephone calls
  • Organising meetings and events
  • Note taking
  • Compiling statistics/data input
  • Typing reports
  • Ordering stationery and equipment
  • Photocopying, filing, scanning, etc
  • Meet and greet at reception
  • Ensuring reception area is kept clean and tidy
  • Manage email inbox
