The Apprentice TPO will support the TPO in holding end to end responsibility for eliciting, analysing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing business requirements.

The Apprentice TPO will support the TPO in owning a quarterly roadmap after completion of the PI planning phase, supporting the team(s), maintaining acceptance criteria on items into the roadmap, ensuring focus on current and future iterations and preparing backlogs for subsequent iterations.

The Apprentice TPO has the following responsibilities:
  • Supports analysis the end-to-end requirement, understanding the effect of any requested change from a business and technical viewpoint
  • Assist in the ownership of the backlog and its prioritisation, post the PI planning sessions, ensuring the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared stories to work on
  • Responsible for the technical story content, acceptance criteria definition and end story 'sign off' across team backlogs
  • Ensures technical debt and NFR's are captured, refined, and prioritised across all sprints
  • Captures additional BAU, Ceremony, and Spike activities, and works with Delivery Management to incorporate into team backlogs, within the boundaries of available capacity
  • Assist in the preparation of system demo's per iteration
  • Support preparation and delivery of PI demo's to stakeholder group, via 'Inspect and Adapt' workshops
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of features within their technical and team boundaries, ensuring identification and contribution to risks and dependencies
  • Attends and contributes to key Product Management meetings, in particular PI Planning
  • Defines metrics to measure the success and performance of prioritised work, ensuring any further BAU iterations can be proposed and prioritised accordingly within the boundaries of available capacity

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticesip, a full time role may be available.

Things to consider

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
