Junior Designer – Digital & Print

Salary: £19,000 - £23,000 Depending on Experience + Benefits

Full Time, Permanent Role, 35 Hours a Week

Leeds, LS10

GIG is looking for a talented, hardworking Junior Designer with a flair for creativity to help create amazing designs for our clients.

Working with a major high street retailer and global FMCG brands the successful candidate will be working across a variety of digital and print projects in a fun, fast paced environment.

We are looking for a creative individual who is passionate about design, keeps on top of the latest design trends, can contribute to concept discussions, has great attention to detail, and can demonstrate a desire to continuously expand and develop their knowledgebase and creative skillset.

Reporting to the Head of Design you will be working in a small team to develop static and animated designs for digital banners, microsites, magazine ads, leaflets, POS, in-situ mock-ups etc. The role will involve a balance of creative and artwork projects.

We pride ourselves on our GIG Values – to be authentic, brilliant, creative and driven. These values help us provide a professional and highly skilled service to all our valued retail clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with our client’s assets and brand guidelines to produce high quality designs across multiple media channels, such as in-store POS, online banners and microsites.
  • Creation of designs from concept to final artwork.
  • Contributing to creative idea sessions.
  • Creation of media mock-ups.
  • Taking a proactive approach to communicating with your team and internal colleagues on a regular basis through all stages of a project.
  • Digesting client feedback and liaise with Head of Design and Project Manager to produce iterative amendments to designs.
  • Supporting Head of Design.

The Junior Designer role is crucial to the day-to-day function of GIG. Our core remit is to produce high quality designs to help drive media revenue for a major high street retailer

About You:

The ideal Junior Designer will have one or two-years’ experience in a similar role and will be able to provide a portfolio of work, however this is not essential for the right candidate.

If you are an ambitious designer, don’t miss this incredible opportunity to make your mark.

You should have:

  • A genuine passion for design, and crucially, the hunger to continually improve.
  • Good creative, layout and typographical skills, the ability to follow brand guidelines consistently and accurately, but also to think creatively when required.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • A fantastic portfolio that demonstrates your creative skills, along with your creative rationale (ideally, we would like to see sketches/scamps).
  • Proficient Adobe Creative Cloud skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects).
  • Animation skills.
  • Simple video editing.
  • Ability to juggle numerous tasks at once and deliver all effectively.
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take a brief and deliver a creative solution, on-brief.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ideally an appreciation of UX principles.
  • Experience of print design would be beneficial.

  • 10% OTE Bonus scheme
  • 27 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Pension & income protection.
  • Death in service cover.
  • Company sick pay.
