Job Specific Location/Base - Westwood Bungalow, Bitterne, Southampton but required to travel and visit/work at all Solent NHS Trust properties across Hampshire & IOW.

The Estates Maintenance Department is seeking a highly experienced healthcare engineering manager with intimate knowledge and experience of strategic mechanical and electrical infrastructure on both small and campus style health estates. The individual will be capable of operating at a high level engaging in dialogue with design consultants and network supply authorities. This is a part time position for 22.5 hours per week.

The individual will be professionally qualified to chartered engineer level and have the responsibility for reviewing and approving design solutions and supporting the drive towards carbon net zero and overall decarbonisation. The role is heavily integrated in the Estate Maintenance Department and previous experience of operational maintenance is essential for effective collaboration and delivery.

The role provides complex strategic and logistical challenges in modifying the estate but equally offers huge rewards in achieving transformation in line with global agendas.

We are looking for candidates who hold a professional registration to chartered level with an engineering or allied building services body and have significant healthcare estate management experience and demonstrable knowledge of the full suite of health technical memoranda and health building notes.

For this post, you will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car to travel for the purposes of work. Travel costs will be reimbursed in line with prevailing public sector terms and conditions.

The Estates Department delivers comprehensive estate maintenance and management services across 20+ retained estate premises following closely industry compliant standards, maximising asset up-time and optimising efficiency along with reducing energy footprints.

We embrace innovation and deployment of new technologies whilst ensuring they align with our overall estate philosophy. We operate fully intelligent buildings and integrated building services with agile environments and clinical spaces.

The role will have far reaching responsibilities for mechanical and electrical utility demand and capacity assessments and invoking necessary development restrictions along with developing a strategy for sustainable infrastructure adjustments and growth.

The role will have delegated responsibility for reviewing and recommending enhancements to the Trust's building and energy management system to ensure energy resource is effectively controlled and minimised with clear and concise energy and operational maintenance strategies.

The role will be responsible for engaging with national supply authorities and establishing understood limitations at local supply level which will need to inform the future infrastructure capability of Solent NHS Trust.
