Job Details
We are Dentons. The world’s largest law firm. We’re the lightbulb moments. The bold ideas. The international deals. We’re 11,000+ lawyers globally, 800+ in the UK with 40+ trainees a year. We’re a truly global, polycentric firm.
Working across 190+ locations, our work spans 77 countries, with our lawyers speaking over 80 languages. Our award wins in 2021 highlight our recognition in the market, and the quality of work our apprentices are involved in.
The Apprenticeship
University isn’t for everyone. Don’t let anyone tell you it is. If you want to train to become a solicitor, you just need a spot on our Solicitor Apprenticeship scheme. You’ll start working towards your LLB university degree alongside your day job too. No student debt. No eye-watering loans. Just an opportunity to learn and build your career.
You'll work four days a week in either our London or Milton Keynes office, and study one day per week with BPP University.
The Work
Throughout the 6 years you will work in 8 different practice areas (departments), so you can develop a wide range of skills and decide what you would like to specialise in after the apprenticeship ends.
From the start you’ll be a key member of the team, and as the years progress you will take on more responsibility. You’ll also
build a portfolio of skills throughout the program, which will play a part in achieving your degree and qualifying as a solicitor.
At the end of the 6 year program all our apprentices will be encouraged to apply to associate (qualified solicitor) positions with Dentons.
The Study
You’ll spend one day a week (usually Mondays) studying with BPP University. You’ll take part in workshops and seminars and complete various assessments across the 6 years, all working towards completing your Law degree.
BPP make studying as accessible as possible, providing a large amount of the course as e-learning.
You can read the full curriculum on the BPP Website.
What we look for
Our apprenticeships are open to all year 13 students and school leavers who are not planning to complete a full time undergraduate degree.
There’s no mould to fit for our apprenticeship programme. We want you to be you. With all your quirks, interests and ambition.
We do need to see a strong record of academic and extra-curricular achievement. We’re looking for 7 GCSEs at grade 6 or above (including Maths and English) and ABB at A Level. We do look at every form received, and take extenuating circumstances into account for grades that do not meet our requirements. We have also implemented the Rare Recruitment Contextual Recruitment System, to give us additional context to every candidate’s application.
Challengers aren’t only defined by their academic ability. We are also looking for driven and passionate candidates, who are excited to join an ambitious and innovative firm.
How to apply
Applications open 6 October 2021 and close 19 February 2022. Throughout the process we'll be looking out for applicants who demonstrate a global outlook, drive and ambition, commercial awareness, collaboration, innovation and enthusiasm.
Application process: Application Form > Critical Thinking Test > Video Interview > Insight Day > Assessment Centre
