Apprenticeship Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician

Apprenticeships at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust combine the practical training in a job with study with an external training provider. Apprenticeships are developed by actual practitioners and employers so relate to the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to do that job. They are open to people of any age and are not restricted by a person's prior qualifications. Apprenticeships can be a starting point for a career in the NHS. At the end of your apprenticeship programme you will achieve an Apprenticeship Certificate confirming the grade of your assessment (Pass, Merit Distinction) and the potential to develop your career further at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting time to be working at the Royal Free London one of the biggest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, delivering care to more than 1.6 million people a year through our three main hospitals: Barnet, Chase Farm and Royal Free.

We are looking for four individuals to join our dynamic team, across our 3 main sites to train and become registered pharmacy technicians with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

To be considered you must hold at least FOUR (4) GCSEs at grade C (or above) in English, Mathematics and TWO Science subjects. As part of the selection process, candidates shortlisted for interview will be required to sit a functional skills assessment in numeracy and literacy.

The successful candidates will be expected to complete a 2 year apprenticeship training programme within pharmacy leading to a Level 3 Integrated Pharmacy Technician qualification. You will be required to attend college one day a week OR undertake distance learning, and in the workplace you will undertake a comprehensive in-house training programme provided by our own team. Progression from year one to year two of the course is dependent on successful completion of all assignments and assessments set in year one. You will have the opportunity to rotate through the different areas Pharmacy has to offer including dispensary, stores, procurement and production and work alongside our ward based pharmacy teams.

The successful candidate must be dynamic, self-motivated, willing to work hard, learn from a multidisciplinary team and a team player, with proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Excellent communication and IT skills, attention to detail and the ability to travel between the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust sites is essential.

The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

If you believe you have met the criteria of the person specification and would like to join the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust at this time, we would be interested in receiving your application.

If an existing member of Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust staff successfully applies for this apprenticeship vacancy their pay will be protected for the length of the apprenticeship programme if their existing band is equal to or lower than the apprentice role they are applying for. Where their existing band is higher, they would be paid at the top of the band that the apprenticeship vacancy is matched to instead of their existing band.
