Brief Description of the Role:

The Estates Department are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Estates Manager to assist the Head of Estates Maintenance in ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of all buildings, plant and associated services in an efficient, economical and safe manner in accordance with all statutory, NHS Trust and departmental guidelines. Candidates should have relevant experience in managing both directly employed trades staff and external contractors.

It is anticipated that the post holder will hold the following qualifications and skills:

  • Completed recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship to City & Guilds level or equivalent.
  • Must hold a min. HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services or relevant subject, working towards a degree qualification.
  • At least 3 years' experience of working in this type of post at a manager level.
  • Experience of electrical operations and maintenance of buildings, engineering plant, services and equipment.
  • Experience of risk management.
  • Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety.
  • Willing to undertake training to fulfil the requirements of the post.
  • Good communication and customer care skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative


The post may be suitable for a trainee dependant on experience of managing electrical systems, familiarity and understanding of healthcare technical guidance documents, as well as experience of working within an acute hospital environment.
