The School Admissions Team cover a number of key areas within the families' directorate. The teams' function is provide commissioning service to the operations team.

This post will provide support essential to the Commissioning Manager.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
  • To assist with the administration of the admission of pupils to both secondary and primary schools including assisting investigating children missing in education
  • Inputting of data relating to school admissions onto the Authority's database, currently the ONE system
  • Working closely with Safeguarding officer on various task including making contacts with other teams, schools
  • To support the Team Manager in respect of providing background information for appeals for place allocations, ensuring that these are dealt with promptly and in accordance with legislative requirements and Local Authority policy. This will include the preparation of Local Authority appeals papers
  • To assist with the annual update and distribution of the admissions booklet for the LBWF area to established standards and within agreed deadlines, ensuring that responsibilities to parents/carers in respect of the provision of information are met
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of changes in education legislation and central government policies concerning admissions, analysing and summarising these changes where necessary for dissemination to the Team.
  • Organise and maintain records and documents using the appropriate council process / system
  • Create documents, reports, correspondence from the information provided, using standard formats and software
  • To work with colleagues within the Team to identify areas for improvement, ensuring the support offer remains appropriate for all service users

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and maths)

  • Demonstrable awareness of principle of providing high quality customer service and satisfaction
