Job Summary:

This role is in a busy, patient focused environment, answering calls from members of the public regarding health problems. While not every 111 call we deal with is a life-threatening emergency, our Health Advisors triage calls through a medical assessment tool and advise of the most appropriate level of care for the patient. This could require escalating certain patient calls to our Clinical Advisors, who are on each shift, for e.g. in the case of an emergency when an ambulance is required, or the patient/caller requires referring onto other available services.

We will require you to :-
  • Have excellent communication skills , confident telephone manner and willingness to train to be able to provide guidance to patients in a calm and logical manner
  • Be able to demonstrate you are caring, empathetic and have a professional attitude.
  • Be flexible to work in hours and out of hours periods. This will include weekends/bank holidays and may include night duty.
  • Have a good standard of basic education (GCSE Grade C or above, including English) or equivalent relevant work-based experience
  • Have experience of using IT software and packages

Career Development:

As a successful applicant when you are offered a role you will be paid to complete your induction and the full NHS Pathways and system training to prepare you for the role. Training is structured and intense in line with the NHS Pathways licence. You must be able to commit to training course for a minimum of 3 weeks. We have full-time and part-time training courses avilable. The full time training times are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Once you have successfully completed your live call assessments you will be working as part of the team within the call centre.

There are also on-going development opportunities once you have completed your probation period. These are in line with NHS Pathways and NHS England's workforce blueprint, as well as with personal developments you may identify in your probation reviews or appraisal which relate to your role.

For further information about this role please contact Recruitment on 03000 134885 or via email [email protected]

We encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as once sufficient applications have been received, we may decide to close the advert early .

Please assume you have been unsuccessful with your application if you have not heard back from us within 2 weeks of the closing date.
