Southern Health is one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health, adult and child community health and learning disabilities.

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is a large community trust providing health care services across Hampshire to people with physical health needs, mental health needs and learning disabilities. The Trust has over 150 sites and has a range of inpatient facilities and community based teams.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who would like to complete a level 2/3 business apprenticeship (depending on previous experience) while working in the Incident and Serious Incident Team and the Ulysses Systems Support Team.

The Incident Officer will provide support for the organisation in the delivery of robust incident management and patient safety by:
  • Facilitating the Incident reporting and management process
  • Supporting the delivery serious incident investigation process
  • Supporting the development and help desk functions of the Ulysses Support Team

The post holder would be expected to support the incident and serious incident elements of the quality governance team ensuring there is robust application of Trust governance processes, policies and procedures. Together with the Ulysses Support function that provides software support and help desk function for they system.

We are looking for someone with IT skills, in particular a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The Trust uses the Ulysses Safeguard Risk Management database/system to facilitate it's incident reporting process, for which full training will be given. The post holder will be required to have attention to detail and focus, in order to check quality and content of incidents being reported, escalating issues as appropriate. Excellent communication skills (face to face and by telephone) will be required in order to influence staff from all levels of the Trust to adhere to the Trusts key performance indicators for incident management. We are looking for someone who is organised, has an eye for detail, and is willing to develop their skills during the apprenticeship.

A DBS check is required by the Employer for this post. The Employer will undertake an initial check at the appropriate level on appointment. As a condition of employment you are required to register with the online DBS update service and maintain this registration throughout employment; costs associated with this will be reimbursed, subject to taxation in line with guidance from HMRC.
