The Operational Estates department at Ysbyty Gwynedd is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Painter and Decorator, to assist with the maintenance of the Health Board's hospitals, clinics and surgeries. This rare opportunity offers an individual the experience of working within a large healthcare estate.

Based at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor the successful candidate will be expected to travel between BCUHB sites in Gwynedd, when required, to carry out their duties. These will include:
  • Preparation of internal and external paint surfaces
  • Stripping and removing wallpapers.
  • Carry out minor plasterwork repairs
  • Room clearance, manoeuvring of heavy items of furniture and equipment.
  • Application of various paint coatings and stains, some of which are specialist by nature, using brush, roller and spray techniques, including Porta Flex.
  • Re-glazing operations and making good putty, mastics and glazing compounds when painting or undertaking repair work.
  • Line marking of roadways and flooring, to include the application of stencil road markings, line, symbols using spray line and traffic paint.
  • Sign writing.

The successful candidate will have served a recognised apprenticeship in painting and decorating, and hold a C&G Craft Certificate or an NVQ level 3.

They will report to the Building Maintenance Team Leader, and work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Pay starts at £20,330 per annum, rising to £21,777 . Annual leave starts at 28 days per annum plus Bank Holidays.
