Graduate Learning Support Assistant

Empowering learning are recruiting Graduates for our highly regarded Exploring SEND School. If you are a graduate considering a future in teaching but don't have any classroom-based experience, then our SEND workshop will give you the opportunity to start your career in Education as an Learning Support Assistant within an SEND setting. Our SEND specialist will deliver an Introduction to working with children and young adults with special needs. You will be required to work with and cover classes with different areas of SEND such as working with pupils with PMLD, Autism and Down Syndrome. This workshop will also look in to dealing with Challenging Behaviour and will help you better understand how to deal with this when are working as a Learning Support Assistant.

Job Responsibilities

  • Comfortable supporting pupils with various Learning Difficulties
  • Ability to engage and support pupils
  • Assist with personal care
  • Supervising children's behaviour

Job Requirements

  • Experience of supporting children or young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities desirable
  • Able to stay calm and de-escalate challenging Behaviour
  • Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Available 2-5 days a week and able to commit to at least 1-6 months
