All successfully appointed staff will be assigned to the nearest base to their home location within the SCW Estate unless there is a justifiable business case for basing staff at another site (e.g. customer site). SCW staff that are in posts considered to be agile will not be expected to attend office space for general working but will be required on occasions to attend face to face meetings and collaborative working sessions that may require travel to their home base or other locations across the estate or customer sites.

National Immunisation Management Service (NIMS) Clinical Advisor Positions -Flu and COVID vaccination programme

NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) are looking for experienced and enthusiastic clinicians with a desire to work within the NHS, ensuring value for public money and helping to improve patient outcomes and experience.

The post holder will join the NIMS Recall Call Centre Team providing clinical advice related to the NIMS programme of work for example supporting the Annual Flu Vaccination Programme 20/21, supporting service users by sharing clinical advice and information that will help to address issues or concerns which may be a barrier to immunisation uptake.

The ideal candidates will have in depth knowledge of NHS initiatives, policy and developments as well as the legal, governance and ethical framework within which clinicians, organisations, systems, providers, and commissioners work. Recent clinical experience alongside highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills will be the key elements for the successful candidates. You will be working within a challenging new NHS environment and will need to be compassionate and pro-active in your approach. The role will provide high quality advice and support to patients, with an emphasis on person centred care.

This is an opportunity for dynamic individuals to input into the delivery of the national immunisation service which will make a difference to patients, helping to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. The service is available from Monday to Saturday 8am - 8pm and Sundays 9am-5pm. Candidates should have availability to commit to providing between 2 and 5 days a week.

A commitment to a minimum of 2 shifts a week is required and other opportunities for bank clinical advisors within SCW may be available in future.

Qualifying Questions:
  • Can you confirm you are currently registered?
  • Can you confirm you have recent and relevant clinical experience to undertake this role?
  • Do you have the availability to commit to a minimum of 2 shifts a week
  • Can you commit to a flexible working pattern covering 7 days of the week Monday to Saturday 8am - 8pm and Sundays 9am-5pm.
  • Can you confirm you have not been out of service for more than 2 years?

  • What you will be doing:
    • Providing support and advice to the public regarding influenza and other identified vaccines via the call centre (remote working)
    • Supporting call handling staff with clinical advice and information
    • Signposting service users where specialist medical input is required

      Making accurate and timely records of calls and clinical discussions and the outcomes reached

      Are you the person we are looking for?

      You will:
    • Have recent and relevant clinical experience
    • Be a registered nurse with current NMC registration
    • Be confident and able to provide remote care via the call centre
    • Be confident in the use of IT equipment
    • Have good, clear communication & influencing skills
    • Have good listening skills
    • Have a helpful, respectful and friendly demeanour

      The role is a band 6 and if successful will be offered a flexible bank contract on zero hours.
