Post: Band 5 (equivalent) Occupational Therapist

Base: The Fountains (Mental Health High Dependency Unit)

Responsible for: A caseload of 16 patients and the support of 3 activity

Co-ordinators

Responsible to: Band 6 OT (equivalent) at The Fountains

Hours: 40 hours per week

Overview of site/Ward:

Cygnet Fountains is a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men who have severe and enduring mental illness and who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The individuals we support come to us following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or stepping down from secure settings.

At Cygnet Fountains we have a number of different options to help support individuals to move on. We have5 self-contained flatswithin the service to enable service users to build their individual skills before discharge while still having the full support of the multi-disciplinary team. We also provide a service just 2 miles away from Cygnet Fountains calledVincent Court. This five bed community rehabilitation service is for the men who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway who are working towards independent living.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user's diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

The Successful Candidate should be/have:
  • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
  • Experienced in the field of adult mental health
  • Ready to work as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist
  • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Passionate about student education support

Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
