Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Primary Care Mental Health/ GPimhs (GP integrated mental health service) Practitioner to join our new Adult Eating Disorders Service (AEDS) Primary Care Integration Pathway. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to service expansion and investment as part of the wider Community Mental Health Transformation. The new pathway will focus on the delivery of evidence-based NICE concordant treatments for people with mild and recent onset eating disorders, and the role will include providing therapeutic interventions as part of those treatments. The successful candidate will need to be psychologically minded, experience of service development and must be capably able to achieve deliverables within required time frames. Specialist experience of working with people with eating disorders, ideally across settings, is required.

In year one (2021 / 2022) the AEDS Primary Care Integration Pathway will be field tested in the North West of our locality, with the launch initially focused on seamless integration with the Woking GPimhs (General Practise Integrated Mental Health Services). Progressively across the 3 years of the transformation the AEDS Primary Care Integration Pathway will then be rolled out to cover all GPimhs / MHICS (Mental Health Integrated Community Services) within Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

In year one the AEDS Primary Care Integration Team will be co-located with the multi-disciplinary team for the existing service which provides specialist assessment and treatment for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders and is based in Guildford and Epsom. The anticipation is that the effective delivery of the AEDS Primary Care Integration Pathway will require a hybrid model of working inclusive of remote liaison with GPimhs / MHICS, teletherapy and some in-person individual and group psychological therapies provision.

The Primary Care Mental Health/ GPimhs Practitioner will receive supervision and support from the Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, will also work closely with the AEDS clinical leadership team and the existing MHICs Clinical Leads.

Applicants must be a qualified and registered clinician/ practitioner, and ideally have post-qualification training and experience in the delivery of NICE concordant psychological therapies for adults with eating disorders or associated Mental Health conditions.

Please feel free to contact Dr Caroline Foster, AEDS Consultant Psychologist (01483 448020) or Arran Higgins, AEDS Service Manager (01483 448020) if you wish to discuss this post.
