Job Details

CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. We involve service users, carers, the public, staff and partner organisations in the way that we are run.

Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation. We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference. We're proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.

We are recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare. We aim to employ only the best people, and our experts are frequently called upon to contribute to national health strategy and policy, and many models of our care have been adapted for use in other countries.

We offer a generous relocation package (subject to eligibility assessment) and flexible working options, including bank assignments for most roles. See attached Staff Reward and Wellbeing Handbook detailing our benefits, discounts and wellbeing intiatives for staff.

Become part of our team. We care for you as much as you care for others.

Come and join us and be one of the friendly and supportive 300 Occupational Therapists (OTs) in CNWL. We work in many different teams in both physical and mental health, as well as a number of specialist areas. You could have a career for life with us and maintain your dual skills.

OT in CNWL is very fortunate in having a long established professional structure and this includes an AHP director, Trust wide Professional Head of OT, borough and specialist Head OTs. This has the huge benefit of ensuring representation of our profession at all levels - both strategically and operationally.

Personal and professional development is a high priority for the profession and is underpinned by our OT R&D strategy, R& D specialist groups and OT clinical networks. This enables us to invest in the development of our staff by providing excellent internal training as well as commissioning specialised external training and providing quality supervision. This ensures all our OTs reach their full potential at every stage of their career. Our commitment to research, audit and EBP is made possible by our strong links with local universities.

We actively support the next generation of OTs through apprenticeships, student placements and the promotion of the profession as a career in schools. We are proud of the diversity in our workforce but have invested time in supporting and developing this further through our BAME OT group.

If you are an OT who strives for excellent and wants to develop to your full potential then we would welcome your application.

We recognise that Band 6's are often the backbone of our clinical teams and we will therefore support their development both clinically and managerially. You will have opportunities to supervise staff, be an educator and have access to both internal and external training.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our vibrant and friendly team within an established OT department based in an acute mental health unit for adults in Hillingdon. The Riverside Centre has a female ward, male ward and male psychiatric intensive care unit. This is an ideal opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is considering developing into a leadership role , aiming to develop their service development and supervision skills. The post holder will be a team-player working closely alongside our other OTs, Senior Peer Support Worker, Activity Co-Ordinator and Sports technician to provide an effective occupational therapy service on the female ward. OTs work both on the ward and in the OT department providing occupational focused assessments, individual and group work guided by the Model of Human Occupation and recovery principles. The post holder will be expected to undertake management responsibilities as a senior member of staff; contributing to the development of the OT and Acute inpatient service. The post holder will be supported to develop their leadership skills; providing clinical supervision to junior staff and providing clinical guidance. The OT service runs 7 days a week with activity coordinators providing a weekend and evening service. OT is viewed as a highly valued component of the service therefore close working with the MDT, liaising with other OTs, mental health services and external agencies in the borough would be an important element of the role. The Riverside centre is a purpose built unit in the grounds of Hillingdon Hospital and has an OT department which includes a gym, IT room, kitchen, art room, group rooms and a garden. Occupational Therapy in the trust benefits from having a Professional Trust wide Head of OT and Borough Head OTs. This enables robust support, supervision, training and development opportunities. The profession has a new R&D strategy with close links to universities. The Riverside Centre are currently introducing a Trauma Informed Approach across the service, providing the opportunity to participate in regular case formulations within the MDT and support patient-centred care.
