Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship – Hardware Engineer Apprentice

Location: Templecombe

This exciting Hardware Apprentice role will develop your skills by designing and implementation of engineering solutions in accordance with programme and product requirements. Typical tasks will range from requirements management via the design and development cycle, to test, integration and validation of complex products and systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and test engineering solutions in accordance with Thales procedures
  • Attendance at project reviews
  • Preparation of engineering specifications, interface control documents & test documentation
  • Deliver tasks on time and to the required quality
  • Work as a team-player asking for guidance and direction where necessary
  • Develop knowledge and skills within the engineering discipline
  • Effectively communicate engineering issues related to own tasks

Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme:

Through our apprenticeship you’ll be making the most of your talents, getting to understand engineering from the ground up; and doing so with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry.

As a Hardware Engineering Apprentice you will be studying towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering under the Engineering Design and Draftsperson apprenticeship standard. For the duration of this 4 year programme you will be given one day per week in which to complete your studies with a local college. For the other four days you will be working in the business, applying your learning and gaining a breadth of experience across the hardware function.

At the end of the programme you will have achieved a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, as well as a Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve a degree qualification.

You will also need:

Candidates will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 9-4 (A-C) including English and Maths.

Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the 3 year programme

All apprentices require full Security Clearance in line with United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) requirements - to gain clearance you will typically need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 12 months. As part of this process you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history.
