Working as a graduate teaching assistant is a brilliant way for aspiring secondary school teachers to gain valuable school based experience. As a graduate teaching assistant working at one of our client secondary schools you will be given the opportunity to grow and develop throughout the year and will find out exactly what the day of a secondary school teacher is like. As a teaching assistant you will be working with students with Special Educational Needs, and pupils of various abilities within mainstream classes as well as within the schools well renowned learning support department. You will be working with pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Each day will be different and by the end of the academic year you will be in a great position to commence your teacher training.
I am eager to hear from graduates who are passionate about building a career working with young people and are potentially thinking about a career in teaching. You will ideally be a graduate, with some form of recent experience with young people and a desire to gain paid experience in a school setting. You may have gained your experience with young people a number of ways such as tutoring, voluntary school work, youth work, sports coaching, overseas teaching?????????..
The school, based in Tower Hamlets East London has been supporting graduates with a desire to get into teaching for the past 6 years. Rated outstanding by Ofsted this is an environment where teaching assistants are given the tools needed to flourish. You will be working closely with the schools experience SENCo and will have the opportunity to get involved in extracurricular activities in your subject area to bolster your experience.
Graduate teaching assistants are given the opportunity to work closely with various teachers which will give you the opportunity to observe different teaching styles and techniques.
