What will the apprentice be doing?

You will learn the basics of tools, machining, electrical theory, circuits, instruments & control logic, before learning how to troubleshoot & maintain various pieces of industrial equipment through lectures & workshop projects. You'll then undertake professional engineering placements in industrial nuclear buildings across site to gain appreciation of the challenges & safety requirements of providing engineering services throughout the engineering lifecycle.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As a Nuclear degree apprentice, you will complete the following:

•BEng in Nuclear Engineering with specialist units, or BSc in Nuclear Science

•12 x 4-week block delivery with residential facilities (flexible to employer requirements)

•Inquiry-led constructive learning and technology-based assessment

•Nuclear behavioural culture, safety and security

•Employer focused contextual content

•Practical engineering workshop practice and skills

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

As an apprentice with AWE, you will be offered a full-time contract from day one. Following the successful completion of the programme, you will move into a role within the business. This is typically a role where you have completed a placement as a part of the programme. From here, you will build your career as an AWE employee.
