What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be fully submerged into the department, working alongside diverse and ambitious teams. Day to day, you will report directly into the Cloud & Infrastructure Lead and will work closely with other experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering Team members. You will be required to participate in BAU activities, assist in project work in other areas of the team, as well as providing support to colleagues within Enterprise Services & Security and Engineering pillars wherever necessary.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will complete aLevel 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship. The entry requirements for the apprenticeship are:

An A-Level in ICT
OR An International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
OR A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
OR A BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
If you can't meet the learning requirements but have been working in the tech industry and you have or are working towards Level 2 in Maths and English you are also eligible to apply.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon completion of the apprenticeship you will be qualified to move into a Network Engineer role with the possibility of progression into line management.

Things to consider

You will need foundation knowledge of: Designing, implementing and maintaining network solutions. L2/L3 switching along with OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, VLANs, VDC,VPC, DNS and DHCP. Firewall management (Cisco and CheckPoint) along with knowledge of network security (NAC, IDS/IPS, VPN, RADIUS, Proxy)
