BAND: 6

On October 1 2018 a new statutory body within NHS Wales came into being, working across the health and education sectors. Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) oversees the strategic development of the health workforce in Wales, including workforce planning, leadership development and education commissioning. It sits alongside existing Health Boards and Trusts to be the eleventh member of the NHS Wales family.

An exciting, new permanent role has been created within HEIW to set up and manage our Translation function. We have a growing demand for the translation of various materials into Welsh, and the post holder will set up a function to deal with this demand, as well as being responsible for the recruitment and training of further translators.

Establishing a scalable process for managing the translation of upwards of 10,000 words a week, translating a substantial portion of this requirement as well as supervising Apprentices, Trainees and Secondees are the main responsibilities of the role. They will have a broader responsibility of encouraging the use of Welsh across the organization, and finding innovative ways of making as much of our teaching resource bilingual as is possible.

To apply please complete the application form on NHS Jobs which must include evidence to support the required behaviours set out in the person specification.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
