What will the apprentice be doing?

The post holder will have contact with members of the public and businesses, provide administrative support, maintain vehicle/s and equipment, carry out investigative enquiries, collate and present evidence, document actions, assist in running evidence stores and provide an initial regulatory response to the public and officers, whilst adhering to both internal and legally required policies and procedures.

To assist officers working within the Councils regulatory functions which includes Environmental Health, Food Safety, Public Safety, Health & Safety, Licensing, Air Quality Monitoring, Contaminated Land and Trading Standards teams (herein referred to as Regulatory Services), participating in each area with the delivery of the regulatory and compliance functions, in line with relevant statutory requirements, policies and procedures.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

All training is on site or online, with one day a week for study

Qualification: Regulatory Compliance L4

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At the end of this apprenticeship you should be able to work in a Regulatory role within the public sector, confident in the skills, & knowledge you have gained.

You should be able to apply for Regulatory officer roles within the public sector.

Good communication & customer service skills Basic knowledge of laws regarding consumer protection, licensing and business regulation. Understanding and a commitment to the confidential nature of regulatory work. You will also need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services. Driving license is essential
