After experiencing great success with their apprenticeship programme in recent years, Derventio Education are looking for 2 new Software Development Apprentices! Based on Vernon Gate, Derby, you will initially support the development team by quality checking their code, then moving onto programming in languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and C#.

Working Week: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Annual Wage: £10,000-£12,000

Derventio Education are looking to grow their Software Development Team with 2 new apprentices!

Reporting to the Technical Director and Senior Developers, you will initially be providing quality assurance to the development process, before starting to write front end code in HTML, CSS and other syntax's where applicable.

Your duties will include the following:

  • Quality assurance of code to ensure there are no errors
  • Bug fixes where a glitch in the code has been identified
  • Software testing to ensure code is performing the intended function to the user
  • Front-end development on software applications, using HTML, CSS & JavaScript
  • Opportunity to get involved in more advanced coding using C# and the ASP.Net framework (later on in the apprenticeship)

Full training will be provided from the employer and training provider.

Desired skills

  • Some knowledge of experience of Front-End Development (HTML/JavaScript/CSS)
  • Strong communication skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly helpful for quality assurance and development
  • Experience with ASP.Net framework would be a plus but not essential

Desired qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 x GCSE's or equivalents at grades A*-C / 9-4, including maths, English and an IT related subject
  • Relevant A-Levels or equivalents in IT related subjects is desirable but not essential

Future prospects

There is an opportunity for this apprenticeship to progress into a full-time role for an apprentice who can demonstrate the right attitude and competence.

There will also be the opportunity to enrol on Software Developer Level 4 if agreed with employer.
