The IT Operations & Production Technician will work proactively and reactively to maintain reliable technical services working hands-on to provide appropriate solutions. All technical staff will contribute to the delivery of an outstanding and robust IT Service across the school. 

Opportunities to develop and excel in accountable projects will be reviewed annually via the appraisal procedures of the school. 

The IT Operations & Production Technician will ensure that they deliver work that is efficient, effective, reliable, fit for purpose and can adapt to changing circumstances. All staff are required to work flexibly and in a way that encourages a positive work environment that is solution focused and proactive for all. 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Responding to requests for support either in person, telephone, email or via the electronic service desk, initial problem diagnosis, advise and escalation when a solution is not readily found.
  • Proactive maintenance checks of computer assets, audio visual setups and general IT equipment around the site with an aim to logging and resolving any issues found.
  • Assisting staff with IT equipment in the classrooms and our venue facilities.
  • Maintenance and Support of our Printer Fleet
  • Repair of network cabling infrastructure including sockets, patching and data cabinets
  • Maintaining our digital video library, capturing of TV programs, video conversion and subtitles as required to support the teaching staff.
  • Keeping comprehensive records of all equipment and resources maintained by the department
  • Proactive monitoring and maintenance of whole school technical production equipment ensuring it compliance.
  • Promote adherence to ICT policies, including those relating to safeguarding, internet usage, Data Protection, Information Management, and reporting any concerns.
  • Undertaking continued professional development in line with the IT strategy.

Provide help with: 

  • Installation of images, applications and updates on laptops and desktop PC's.
  • Laptop and desktop replacement projects.
  • Cloud platform management and integration.
  • Installation and upgrades of network equipment and cabling.
  • Installation and upgrades of server infrastructure and services.
  • Installation of various new equipment as well as support other large procurement projects from research to final project delivery.
  • Recovering staff and pupil work from the backup system.
  • Managing and controlling the school internet filters.
  • Support for computer use in examinations.
  • Contribute to IT projects involving the selection, development and implementation of IT systems to enable the academy in line with the IT Strategy Plan.

Entry requirements: 

You need to have 5 GCSE’s: 

  • Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades D or above 
  • 3x GCSE’s grade A-C in any other subject 

You must not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level, or higher level than this apprenticeship. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
