Duties Include
  • Ordering raw materials and stock control
  • Mashing and all daily brewing activities
  • Cleaning, sterilising and preparing equipment includingcasks (essential part of brewing)
  • Taking beer gravities and quality control including yeasthandling
  • Bottling & racking beer including filtering
  • General record-keeping on PC as per audit requirements
  • Assisting in Tap Room (If over 18) so some shift hours are available as well asflexible working hours to suit circumstances and to align withapprenticeship course requirements

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • A logical brain is essential to following the brewingprocesses
  • Anunderstanding of mechanics and basic chemistry would be helpful but notessential as it can all be learnt

Personal qualities

  • A willingness to learn with a positive attitude and a goodsense of humour will stand you in good stead
  • Being punctual, good attentionto detail, and personal hygiene as customer-facing is also essentialBeing able to cope with thephysical demands of the roleis also a must
  • It's a demanding role both physically and mentally but withfantastic rewards of producing great beer from the grain to the pint

Desired qualifications

GCSE or equivalent grade C/4 English and maths may be desirable

Future prospects

Successful completion of the apprenticeship program for the right person will almost certainly mean a full-time job offer subject to collaborative agreements on salary and benefits.
