Graduate Planning Consultant
Location: Hereford
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
About the Company:
At Berry's, we're all about land and property. Working from five offices across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Northamptonshire, and Oxfordshire, we offer an array of services - planning, design, surveying, valuation, and business consultancy - to help our clients make the most of their assets.
Hereford is one of our newer offices and has recently been refurbished to cater for what is now a swiftly growing team. We have an excellent name and a strong presence within Herefordshire, and we are increasingly bringing in work from the surrounding shires. As a town planner, you will be part of a twelve-strong team working across Hereford and Shrewsbury, and one of fourteen qualified planners in the business.
Our work is quite varied, ranging from applications and appeals to site promotion, public engagement, and environmental surveys. Our projects span everything from self-build houses and farm buildings to urban extensions and solar farms. You will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload of projects, and to develop specialist skills in areas you find particularly interesting.
Graduate Planning Consultant Duties:
The role will suit a graduate, or someone who has a few years' experience, and who is working towards their RTPI membership.
Day to day, you will be working with our in-house architects and surveyors, as well as with other members of the planning team. Your role will encompass research, report writing, plan preparation and the management of small applications. In addition to your own caseload of projects, you will help senior colleagues deliver larger developments.
This is very much a client-facing role, so we are looking for somebody who is calm and confident, who enjoys helping people and who understands and acts swiftly on instructions. Our clients are a diverse mix of householders, farmers, developers, investors, and landed estates.
The role will include outdoor site visits and on-site advice, so you will need to have a driving license and a car available.
Graduate Planning Consultant Requirements:
* Undergraduate degree in town planning or a related subject
* Working towards membership of the RTPI
* Confident manner and willingness to learn from others
* Excellent written English and problem-solving abilities
* Experience in a relevant planning discipline, either public sector or private sector is preferable
Graduate Planning Consultant Benefits:
The role sits within a friendly and supportive team where we'll give you the opportunity to develop your career in the direction you choose.
* We'll offer an excellent salary for the right candidate which reflects your skills, qualifications, and experience
* We operate a discretionary Performance Related Profit-Sharing Scheme which all employees participate in
* We have an Employee Assistance Programme, including a health plan and annual flu jab vouchers - there is also the option to join a Private Healthcare Scheme on a contributory basis
* We provide an entitlement of 33 days holiday per annum inclusive of bank holidays plus your Birthday off
* We also provide an additional day's holiday for every three years of service and time off for approved training
* We provide a workplace pension scheme operated through The National Employment Savings Trust (NEST)
