You'll be working for International Timber in Manchester. International Timber is one of more than 30+ exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and, since 1970, has been the UK's leading importer and distributor of bespoke, sustainable timber and panel products. Is this role right for me?

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate. A role that offers a good rate of pay for an apprenticeship, a mix of inhouse on the job training and working with our external training provider. Similar to a traditional apprenticeship that will see you working across each part of the manufacturing plant, from tool room to shopfloor. It will provide you with all round experience and enable you to begin a long career that offers progression and further training down the line.

First and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working; so industry experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is looking to start their career, willing to learn and be a great addition to the team! A great Apprentice Timber Mill Operative at International Timber will put safety above all else, work well in a team and be enthusiastic about the work they do. As a quick learner, you'll be flexible to work in different areas, take responsibility for the work you do and always show good attention to detail.

The successful candidate will join an established and experienced team with a wealth of knowledge ready to help train and develop the right candidate. Successful candidates will be paired with an experienced Machinist Trainer and complete rotations of the Tool Room, Shop Floor and Timber Mill to ensure they learn all aspect of the business.

There are only a few requirements to consider before applying for this amazing opportunity;

18 years+ due machine restrictions
GCSE's, ideally Math Grade C or above
Physically active role - candidate will be on their feet for the full shift
Interest in learning and progressing into the role of a Mill MachinistWhat will I be doing in the role?

Our Timber Mill Operatives are very important to the smooth running of the business. Their role is important to help ensure products are where they need to be on time. As you advance in your training you will be involved in such tasks as;

Unwrap, de-band and prepare incoming packs of timber in readiness for use by the Machinist / Sawyer to ensure efficient throughput of timber.
Unload and stack timber from machines to ensure a quality product is presented to the customer in a safe and acceptable manner.
Wrap and strap completed timber packs to ensure safe transportation and to maintain quality.
Advice the Machinist / Sawyer of any quality concerns regarding the timber produced, as shown in the quality documents, to ensure customer satisfaction.
Keep a good, clean and safe working environment by use of good housekeeping techniques, to ensure quality of product and the safety of people working on or around your area.About Us
