Job Details

Is full time study not your thing? Are you looking for a long-term career opportunity and the chance to gain additional qualifications? Are you able to commute to Oakenholt Mill, Flint?

At Essity we manufacture and sell products that are used every day. We own and manufacture many leading brands. Cushelle toilet tissue, Plenty kitchen roll and TORK are three of our leading tissue brands, all manufactured in the UK for use in the home and industry.

We want you to help us maintain production for the future and create new innovative ways of working. Join us as a Manufacturing Process Apprentice and you will gain the skills to make a positive contribution to our business and reach your full potential.

About the role

You may be surprised how involved and challenging our papermaking process is. Our paper machines are larger than a jumbo jet, and the machine speed is faster than the motorway speed limit.

Join Essity as a Manufacturing Process Apprentice at our Oakenholt Mill, Flint and you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to contribute to making paper for the manufacture of our essential products. With a strong history of recruiting and developing apprentices, you will join an experienced team with a passion for coaching.

What you will do

You will study for a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Performing Engineering Operations, Level 3 Process Industries Operations and a BTEC Level 3. Throughout the programme you will have the support of an assessor from Coleg Cambria.

Your work-based learning will focus on:

  • how to operate the machinery both effectively and safely
  • understanding key manufacturing systems, including an awareness of production costs
  • how to undertake maintenance of the machine including some mechanical responsibilities
  • completing audits
  • how to ensure production meets quality standards

This will allow you to develop your skills through a mix of on-the-job training and academic study.

On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be ready for a manufacturing operations role.

Who are you

We would love to hear from you if you have;

A minimum of 3 GCSE’s at grades 4 / C including Maths, English and a science

  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • A logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • A flexible but solutions focused approach
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Key to success for this apprenticeship is for you to have the ability to balance time between study and work to ensure success in both.

This apprenticeship involves shift work. You will follow a shift pattern of four days on and six days off (2 x 12 hour days and 2 x 12 hour nights), therefore you must be a minimum age of 18 at the time of submitting your application.

If successful you will need to be available to commence as soon as possible.

What we can offer you

In return we offer an excellent starting salary (above the national minimum apprentice wage), plus annual bonus opportunity, competitive pension scheme, health cash plan, workwear and personal protective equipment (PPE).  Apply now so you don’t lose out on this great opportunity.
