Graduate Asbestos Surveyor - London & South East - Permanent Position

This is an excellent opportunity and an exciting time for Trainee Asbestos Consultants to join our established Asbestos teams in London & the South East.

You will get the opportunity to work on a diverse range of property and construction types, including interesting historical, architectural and industrial sites. Projects will be based not only in the local regional area, but also further afield throughout the UK and significant opportunity for short term overseas work.

Training will be based upon the British Occupational Hygiene Society's P402, P403 & P404 qualifications and training which will include both practical and theoretical elements with mentoring provided by our qualified expert consultants. You would be expected to read and understand the HSE publications, HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide and HSG248 The Analysts Guide for Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures, as these are the core technical methodologies for the work and would be essential in gaining the qualification listed above.

Upon successful qualification and authorisation in line with our UKAS accreditations you will then be able to carry out asbestos survey and analytical works independently across domestic, commercial and industrial sectors.

There are various facets to the role of an asbestos consultant which will include (once qualified):
Carrying out site inspections to identify and sample asbestos materials
Carrying out air testing whilst asbestos removal works are being undertaken and working with contractors to monitor and verify that their works are completed to the required standards
Maintain accurate site records using tablets for data collection
Produce client reports after site works
Working both as an individual and also as part of a team on larger, more complex sites
Working safely and efficiently, with works also delivered to the highest quality standards

This work can also be physically demanding at times, during intrusive access on demolition surveys.

A minimum of five GCSE's grades 4/C or above including Maths, English and Science
A keen interest in helping to maintain a safe working environment for our clients, their staff and members of the public
Possess an eye for detail
Demonstrate a high standard of personal integrity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
IT literate and proficient use of standard Microsoft Office software package IT skills and good standard of literacy for writing technical reports.
Excellent observational skills and an inquiring mind, along with a clear sense that the work is critical in the protection of the health and well being of other persons.
Ability to follow clear written procedures, practical demonstrations and to represent the company professionally through interaction with clients, contractors, and members of the public on site.
Ability to integrate well within the local asbestos team, national asbestos team, and the wider disciplines, with whom you will often work alongside.
Clean security record, i.e., to be able to achieve DBS vetting initially, with SC and possibly DV levels of clearance for UK and international contracts on secure sites.
Full, clean UK driving license.

Initial Asbestos Awareness training and company Health and Safety inductions
CSCS trainee card
BOHS Proficiency Modules for Asbestos (or RSPH Level 3 equivalents)
There may be potential for MEWP and Confined Space training depending on operational requirements

Salaries will be reviewed once training is completed and external exams are passed and you have completed the UKAS authorisation requirements.
